ABSTRACT This research project aimed at investigating the monetary policy and performance of commercial banks in Kenya. Commercial Banks have on average been posting a continuous decline in their performance over the last decade. The return on asset in 2014 was 4.46% declined to 3.4% in 2015 and 3.1% in 2016 while the return on equity has also been declining from 28.2% in 2014 to 23.8%in 2015 and 20.6% in 2016 forming the basis of the study.
